Ballroom Dancing is an important part of the Physical Education Department Curriculum. Each year fifth grades from all of our schools take part in this eight week unit. The Physical Education staff, in collaboration with ballroom dance professional teachers, use the Program as an educational tool to develop social awareness and self-esteem utilizing five social dances as the vehicle. The Program is an all-inclusive, curriculum based, teaching approach that breaks down social barriers, provides opportunities to practice honor and respect and learn about communication and co-operation, via the basic fundamentals in Meringue, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Swing.
The Program concludes with an exhibition showcasing each of the participating elementary schools’ amazing talents and abilities in the main gym of CRLS.
